O-Rings
Two types of Viton O-rings are used that show no contamination and have good durability. It is important to note the differing dimensions of the two O-rings types and where used:
- Top O-Ring (PN: 00-002) is the larger and thicker O-ring that fits on the top part of the closure and forms the seal between the closure and flat top of the vial mouth.
- Body O-Ring (PN: 00-001) fits on the two grooves of the main body of the closure and seals the closure with the inner neck of the vial.
Typical use of Vac closures involves one Top O-Ring and one Body O-Ring on each of the two external grooves of the closure. Each groove can accommodate up to two Body O-rings.
The O-rings are resistant to alcohols, aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbons among others but are not compatible with ketones, low molecular acids, amines and alkalis, strong oxidizing agents, and strong acids/bases. The recommended max. temperature of operation is + 80oC for water samples.
Septum plug
This septum plug is the Thermogreen® LB-2 septum, typically used in GC inlets. It is manufactured from high quality, low bleed material and typically, already conditioned and fully tested for bleed and contamination. The plug septa can be used repeatedly and pierced up to 100 times and still maintain the gas-tight seal.
Cylindrical septum
This half-hole cylindrical septum is the Thermogreen® LB-1 septum intended for use in glass gas sampling bulbs, and purge & trap glassware. Prior the first use, septa must be conditioned for 16 h at 150 °C to avoid outgassing of siloxanes and contamination. Thermogreen® LB-1 septa typically afford 50 to 100 penetrations without irreversible damage, although this may vary.
